In this study, performance evaluation tests were conducted on test specimens coated with surface penetrants for concrete structures and exposed for long terms to confirm the long-term performance of the surface penetrants and their effect on the quality of concrete. The results revealed that although the modification reaction previously proposed had occurred in test specimens coated with silicate-based surface penetrants, it did not contribute to long-term durability. Furthermore, from the perspective of carbonation, it was suggested that test specimens coated with silane-based surface penetrants may deteriorate in durability over the long term.
