Nowadays, the demand for energy is growing, and renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, etc., are being used more and more. Power converters are an essential element of the power chain to ensure the efficient transfer of energy from renewable energy sources to the utility grid. When transferring energy from renewable sources to the grid, we need to address several challenges, such as synchronization with the grid, designing the output LCL filter, decoupling in the output filter, and so on. This article presents the design of an output low-pass filter in the LCL configuration, transformations from a three-phase system to the dq0 system and vice versa, control of the voltage source inverter via a current loop, decoupling in the LCL filter, control of active and reactive power, compensation of reactive power and power factor and the phase-locked loop synchronization algorithm. The whole control analysis as well as synchronization algorithm is verified by simulation program for power electronics circuits – PLECS.
