This study presents the results of an experiment aimed at monitoring juvenile anchovy in the uppermost part of the water column using an upward-facing echosounder installed on a SeaExplorer glider. The experiment was included in the JUVENA annual campaign and conducted over 17 days in the southeast Bay of Biscay, in front the Basque coast. The glider was equipped with an Imagenex echosounder and an RBR CTD sensor. The results showed the detection of juvenile anchovy at several points along the sampling period, benefitted by the superior coverage of the first meters of the water column provided by the upward-facing transducer.
