The present work comprises the synthesis, structural characterization and photophysical studies of two lanthanide β-diketonate complexes Eu(BTFA)3(H2O)2 and Eu(PPD)3(H2O)2 involving the β-diketone ligands 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-phenylbutane-1,3-dione and 4,4,5,5,5-pentafluoro-1-phenylpentane-1,3-dione. The major goal of the present study is to investigate the effect of increase in the fluorine chain length on thermal stability and photophysical characteristics of Eu3+ complexes.
