The generation of an electron beam in a 3 GHz radiofrequency gun with a very low emittance requires a photocathode driven by a 10 ps ultraviolet high energy pulse with a rise time minor than 1 ps. This pulse can be provided by a Ti:Sa laser system completed with a pulse shaper programmed for thattask. We discuss the design of a 4f-grating-lens pulse shaper optimized for our long rectangular pulse and for the lowest sensitivity to alignment. The Acousto-Optic Programmable Dispersive Filter shaping system is briefly discussed.
