DRC's mineral extraction sector is characterized by opaque supply chains that often lack transparency and accountability, leading to issues such as corruption and environmental degradation. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving interviews with key stakeholders (n=20) and blockchain data analysis from 15 companies involved in the sector over two years. Blockchain implementation resulted in an average reduction of 48% in fraudulent transactions compared to pre-intervention levels, while increasing traceability by 73%. The technology also facilitated quicker dispute resolution processes. Blockchain technology effectively improved transparency and efficiency within the DRC mineral extraction supply chain. Governments should mandate blockchain use for all public sector contracts in the mining industry to ensure consistent application.
