This study evaluates the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 as a transformative framework for Hindi language instruction, balancing its potential for cultural revitalization against the systemic risks of educational inequity. By prioritizing mother-tongue instruction and multilingualism, the NEP 2020 offers a significant platform for the preservation of Hindi and its integration into a modern, technology-driven curriculum. However, the analysis reveals critical implementation barriers, including the digital divide between urban and rural schools, the lack of specialized teacher training, and the potential marginalization of regional dialects and non-Hindi speaking populations. The paper further explores how the policy can be leveraged to bridge cultural gaps through experiential learning and community engagement. It concludes that while the NEP 2020 provides a progressive roadmap, achieving true educational equity requires a calibrated approach that promotes Hindi without compromising the linguistic autonomy of India’s diverse regional identities.
