Summary A 13‐year‐old, neutered, male labrador retriever dog presented with a 3‐month history of intermittent oral pain, hyporexia and temporalis muscle atrophy. Computed tomography of the head demonstrated an expansive, mineralised, contrast‐enhancing mass in the distal right external ear canal. A right total ear canal ablation and lateral bulla osteotomy were performed without incident. Histopathological analysis was consistent with a tympanokeratoma. The dog initially recovered well; however, 7 days post‐operatively, the dog was humanely euthanased for reasons unrelated to the tympanokeratoma. This is the first reported case of a tympanokeratoma arising from the external ear canal in a labrador retriever dog.
