Today, we live in a world full of complex problems that cannot be solved from a single discipline. In this context, this article explains, in a clear and accessible way, how participatory design and transdisciplinarity enable the creation of more effective solutions by integrating knowledge from science, technology, and engineering. To this end, 12 key texts were analyzed, selected for being the most cited within a group of 100 articles, along with two case studies: one focused on social innovation and the other on technological development, used as illustrative examples. The results show that when different people and disciplines work together, more comprehensive, useful, and socially accepted solutions are generated. This text aims to bring these concepts closer to students and the general public, highlighting their practical application in today’s world.
