The regularisation of workers has been a contentious issue in Indian labour jurisprudence, with the Supreme Court playing a pivotal role in shaping the legal framework governing the rights of temporary, contractual, and casual workers. This paper examines the evolution of judicial pronouncements by the Supreme Court of India regarding the regularisation of workers, analyzing key landmark judgments, underlying legal principles, and their socio-economic implications. The study traces the Court's approach from early liberal interpretations favoring worker rights to more recent balanced perspectives considering economic realities and administrative feasibility. Through comprehensive case law analysis, this research identifies the parameters established by the apex court for regularisation claims and evaluates their impact on labour relations in contemporary India.
