Objective — to study current understanding of various methods of pre-induction of labor and identify the most effective ones based on data from Russian and international literature. A literature search was conducted using the keywords “pre-induction of labor,” “programmed labor,” “cervical ripening,” “dinoprostone,” “Foley catheter,” “labor stimulation,” “mifepristone,” “misoprostol,” and “prostaglandins” in Russian and international databases: eLibrary, Medline/PubMed, Embase, and Crossref. In accordance with this objective, 54 literature sources were selected for analysis. Despite the large number of proposed methods for preparing the body for childbirth, there are currently no generally accepted algorithms for personalized selection of the most effective pre-induction method. Most often, the choice of the method used to prepare the body for childbirth is empirical. Therefore, improving the effectiveness of pre-induction of labor based on personalized selection of the optimal method for preparing the body for childbirth at term is a pressing issue in modern obstetrics.
