This study examines transport maintenance depot systems in Tanzania to identify areas for improvement. A randomized field trial was conducted to assess the impact of various operational strategies on yield. Data collection included performance metrics such as maintenance efficiency and vehicle uptime. There was an observed improvement in average vehicle uptime by 15% after applying optimised maintenance protocols, with a 95% confidence interval for this effect. The randomized field trial methodology provided robust evidence on the effectiveness of specific operational changes in enhancing depot performance. Based on findings, it is recommended to implement these optimised protocols across all transport maintenance depots in Tanzania. The maintenance outcome was modelled as Y₈ₓ=₀+₁X₈ₓ+uᵢ+₈ₓ, with robustness checked using heteroskedasticity-consistent errors.
