Cyberlaw and data protection in Southern Africa are increasingly important as digital technologies become more prevalent. A qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews to gather insights from key stakeholders including lawyers, technology companies, and regulatory bodies. Interviews revealed significant discrepancies between the theoretical framework of cyberlaw and data protection in Senegalese law and its practical application in real-world scenarios. There is a need for more comprehensive legislation and better enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance with international standards on cyberlaw and data protection. Senegal should consider revising existing laws to align them with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other global best practices.
