NOB (.nb) is a portable encrypted notebook format designed for the traceless transfer and preservation of research notes. The system is particularly oriented toward independent thinkers and researchers who work outside institutional knowledge infrastructures. While academic environments provide laboratory notebooks, repositories, and publication pipelines, independent researchers often lack equivalent archival tools. This can lead to fragmentation of research material across temporary applications or commercial cloud services. The NOB notebook format addresses this gap by providing a self-contained knowledge container fully controlled by the author, enabling secure storage, transport, and development of intellectual work.
