Hannah Parnes Head of Policy & Government Affairs of EeroQ Bio: Hannah Parnes is the Head of Policy & Government Affairs of EeroQ, a Chicago-headquartered quantum computing company that is developing a scalable quantum computer using electron-on-helium qubits. Ms. Parnes is an attorney and expert in the intersection of quantum technology and policy with experience in policy making, administrative law, and advocacy. After serving as a Legislative Aide in the U.S. Senate, Ms. Parnes earned her J.D. from the George Washington University Law School where she gained practical experience in federal rulemaking. She leads EeroQ's local, federal, and international policy and outreach efforts, advocating for EeroQ's priorities and advancing quantum technology development. TITLE: The Implications of Policy on Quantum Technology Development Abstract: The immense impact that quantum technologies have and will have on scientific discovery, economic competitiveness, and national security has led policymakers around the globe - from regional governments to international organizations - to develop quantum technology policy. This presentation will explore a survey of several public policy objectives and analyze the expected impact of laws and regulations promulgated to further these goals. The actual and projected effect on quantum technology development, industry, and ecosystem building will be explored. Concluding considerations will include predictions of future quantum policy actions and means for quantum researchers to engage in the process.
