Abstract Calculations show that there can be a significant error in the estimated power of a hydrogel lens when standard techniques are used to arrive at the lens power by means of a lensometer and a wet cell. Ray‐tracing procedures were used to produce graphs which provide more accurate correction factors so that the lens power can be determined with improved precision.
