In recent years, car-sharing systems have gained worldwide attention as a new solution to mobility problems such as pollution reduction and congestion. The operation of these transport systems needs a rigorous control and a suitable management strategy to have a high quality of service. In this paper, we develop an original discrete-event approach for modeling and analyzing the performance of car-sharing systems using stochastic Petri nets, taking into account their dynamic behavior under constraints such as battery charging and car maintenance.
