Registered dietitian nutritionists (RDN) provide medical nutrition therapy as a core therapeutic approach to induce weight loss in individuals with and without obstructive sleep apnea. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of an RDN-led weight loss program. A cross-sectional, retrospective review of data from a weight management program in a single private office of a physician specializing in sleep medicine was performed. Patients self-selected and followed one of four dietary approaches. Statistically significant weight reductions were observed from baseline to a 4th follow-up appointment ( P < 0.05). These findings demonstrate that an RDN-led weight management program can effectively induce weight loss.
