Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) System is a significant technology for renewable energy utilization. In this study, CFD analyses are conducted to realize a high-pressure radial turbine that is compact and can achieve the high aerodynamic performance over the wide operating range in a micro-CAES system. As a result, an adiabatic efficiency of 62.0% at the turbine design point and a maximum turbine output of 5.49kW were obtained as the initial stage. The loss locations and efficiency reduction factors due to the influence of Mach number were also analyzed to establish a foothold for further performance improvement.
