This paper seeks to address the “Protestant question” in Brazil offering fresh perspectives based on the first results of an investigation into the Vatican archives. Specifically, it aims to identify when and how the topic came to the attention of papal diplomacy and to examine the key interlocutors of the Roman Curia in Brazil. Considering the emphasis on Evangelicalism, this essay may also contribute to a clearer understanding of global Pentecostalism.
