The main aim of this article is to study the measures which were planned by the USSR and Kyrgyz SSR to manage the deportation of Karachays to Kyrgyzstan in November 1943. Documents found in the Central State Archive of Kyrgyzstan Republic were used for this purpose. By using those documents, the article tries to shed light on one of the tragic events of the human history. In order to read the documents correctly, the article also explains the historical background, implementation and tragic consequences of the deportation. The article demonstrates that deporting one nation with all its members to other lands would be a grave mistake causing great tragic losses. Planning such a big event and trying to manage it through certain measures would not prevent traumatic results including human tragedies. The example of Karachays have been studied by directly using archival documents.
