Abstract: Cystic echinococcosis/hydatid disease of the thyroid gland is a rare occurrence with prevalence ranging between 0 and 3.4%. We present to you a case of primary hydatid disease of the thyroid gland in a 65-year-old male patient who was clinically diagnosed with a thyroid nodule. The patient underwent fine-needle aspiration cytology-thick gel-like material was aspirated from the cystic nodule and many protoscolices with hooklets, detached refractile hooklets, and fragments of laminated membranes were seen microscopically which were suggestive of hydatid cyst.
