To explore the relationship between polyunsaturated fatty acids in breast milk and infant eczema, alongside gut microbiota composition.
Analyzed breast milk for polyunsaturated fatty acids
Assessed infant eczema incidence
Examined gut microbiota composition in infants
Higher levels of C20:3n-3 and total n-3 PUFAs linked to lower risk of infant eczema
Findings suggest Clostridium abundance in gut may mediate this relationship
Abstract
C20:3n-3 and total n-3 PUFAs in breast milk were associated with decreased risk of infant eczema, and this association may be related to the abundance of Clostridium in infant's gut.
