The compressive strength of the low heat cement paste with replacement ratio by weight of silicon dioxide particles in 0％, 19％, 26％ and 41％ of and water-to-binder ratio （w/b）of 0.42 were investigated at 1, 3, 7, 14, 28, 56 and 91 days of hydration. The reaction degrees of low heat cement and amorphous silicon dioxide were calculated from quantification results by X-ray diffraction with PONKCS method and selective dissolution method. The results indicate that the filler effect caused by silicon dioxide accelerated the early hydrate on rate of low heat cement, especially earlier than 14 days. A 26％ replacement of silicon dioxide was found to provide the greatest improvement in the hydration process. After 91 days of hydration, larger silicon dioxide particles can also reach a reaction level of about 20％. As the silicon dioxide content increased, the compressive strength of the paste gradually decreased, but as hydration progressed, the trend of strength loss gradually decreased, indicating the pozzolanic reaction of silicon dioxide.
