The aim of this pilot study was to develop and validate a scale to assess the influence of creative self-beliefs (CSB) in second language acquisition (SLA) in the context of the narrative task of Albert and Kormos (2004).Building upon the findings of an earlier study investigating the mediating and moderating roles of creative self-efficacy (CSE) and creative personal identity (CPI) (Karwowski & Beghetto, 2019), this study has devised a method to evaluate CSE and CPI within the framework of an SLA narrative task.A total of 32 Japanese learners of English took part in the experiment (N=32).Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted to determine the validity of the proposed 10-item scale. The results showed a good correlation between the items, supporting a two-factor model.Consequently, the domain-specific creative self-beliefs scale (DSpec-CSBS) was validated as an effective psychometric instrument for evaluating CSE and CPI in the context of a speaking task within the field of SLA.
