The results of a study of the reaction of synthesis of few-layer graphene under conditions of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis are presented. The temperature effect of the reaction and the composition of the released gases are determined. It is established that the synthesis of few-layer graphene occurs in three stages: at the first stage, there is thermolysis of ammonium nitrate with the release of oxidizing gases (N2O, N2, O2, NO2); at the second stage, carbonization of cellulose, which acts as a precursor, occurs with the formation of some primitives; and at the third stage, self-organization of the formed primitives to particles of few-layer graphene takes place.
