Vatarakta1 is a disease described in Ayurveda caused by simultaneous vitiation of Vata and Rakta, resulting in symptoms such as severe joint pain, swelling, tenderness, and restricted movement. In modern medicine, similar manifestations are observed in post-viral arthritis, which may occur following viral infections often transmitted by mosquito bites. Ayurveda explains the toxic influence of mosquito bites under Mashaka Visha2 i.e mosquito bite which can vitiate Rakta and disturb Vata leading to joint pathology. This observational case study evaluates the efficacy of Ayurvedic management in a patient presenting with symptoms resembling Vataj Vatarakta associated with post-viral arthritis. The treatment protocol included Bilwadi Gutika, Rasnadi Kashaya, Samshamni Vati, and Rasa-Rakta Pachaka medicines. Clinical assessment was done using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and symptom evaluation. The patient showed significant improvement in joint pain, tenderness, fever, and walking ability after 15 days of treatment. This case suggests that Ayurvedic treatment focusing on Ama Pachana, Vata-Rakta Shamana and Rakta purification may provide beneficial results in post-viral arthritic conditions.
