The development of innovative entrepreneurship plays an indispensable role in achieving economic success and high rates of economic growth. Thus, entrepreneurship as an economic entity and a special creative type of economic behaviour is an integral part of the many factors for achieving economic success. Innovative activity in the modern economy is becoming a defining feature of entrepreneurship. Innovation is not simply an invention or discovery, but also includes the practical application of an entrepreneurial idea, i.e., the commercialisation of new technical, technological, organisational and other developments. Entrepreneurship is widely recognised as a driver of economic growth and is seen by many as a solution to contemporary economic and social problems, as well as an opportunity to promote environmental and economic sustainability. The paper aims to deepen knowledge about innovation, its role in the modern economy, and to present the link between innovation and sustainable development. The study uses an integrated methodological approach, including analysis of statistical data and review of scientific literature.
