Admission to the ICU after elective non-cardiac surgery is common. Our analysis of the ACS NSQIP® database identified elevated BMI, longer duration of surgery and disseminated cancer as predictors of post-operative ICU admissions in patients undergoing elective non-cardiac surgery.
