OpenSim is the most popular simulator for biomechanical research in the world. While free and open-source software, it does not integrate easily with the Python ecosystem, which is rapidly becoming the de facto standard for Open Science. Our goal is to make OpenSim’s integration as seamless as possible by designing, developing, and documenting “Python-native” bindings for OpenSim that focus on ease-of-use, performance, teachability, and interoperability. This will be paired with the development of a standardized “study” file format, which will provide the community with a clear way to interchange the library's models, input data, and analysis results.
