Abstract: In Guadeloupe, in 1975, the strike by agricultural workers harvesting sugar cane provides an insight into the circumstantial uses of the history of slavery within the pro-independence movement. The latter mobilized a local and reinterpreted past, decolonizing memories of slavery through the valorization of those who resisted this system. At the same time, it reified the archetypal figure of the slave to describe Haitian workers, denouncing their presence as a disruptive force in the balance of power between unionized strikers and sugar factory bosses. Rezime: Grèv 1975 la pèmèt nou konprann itilizasyon detaye istwa esklavaj la nan mouvman endepandans lan. An menm tan, mouvman an pa divòse ak diskou/langaj ki pòtre esklav yo tankou bèt pou dekri travayè ayisyen yo, antan l ap denonse prezans yo kòm yon fòs deranjan nan balans pouvwa a ant grevis sendikalis yo ak chèf faktori sik yo.
