Trauma registries are essential tools for quality improvement, benchmarking, and research in trauma care. However, the quality of data within these registries varies widely across institutions and countries. Poor data quality — including missing data, inaccurate coding, incomplete records, and lack of standardization — undermines the validity of registry-based research and quality improvement efforts. Despite the recognized importance of data quality, no standardized framework exists to measure or score it across trauma registries. This systematic review aims to synthesize existing evidence on trauma registry data quality and use findings to develop a Trauma Data Quality Score (TDQS).
