2 important mechanical aspects associated with the ferrule. 1st is that the structure embraced by the restoration is continuous with the root, which is embedded within the bone structure. 2nd is the transition from depending on merely tensile resistance in the case of lateral loads to shear and bending resistance associated with the ferrule design. This assumption needs more mechanical characterization. In this paper, we are shedding light on these important issues.
