The study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of an educational program based on the argumentative theory in developing media discourse skills among female students of the Media Department at Taif University. To achieve the goal, the researchers used quasi-experimental design and prepared the following materials: a list of the written media discourse skills, a test of the written media discourse skills, provided with a rubric, a list of the oral media discourse skills, a test of the oral media discourse skills, equipped with a rubric, a general framework for the program, the student’s book, and the teacher’s guide. The random sample consisting of twenty students from the sixth level in the second semester of the year 2022. The results revealed that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the pre and post measurements of the written media discourse skills test in favour of the post measurement. In addition, there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the pre and post measurements of the oral media discourse skills test in favour of the post measurement. Finally, there were statistically significant differences between the two multiple correlation coefficients in the pre and post measurements of the skills of the written and oral media discourse, attributed to the program. The study recommended a number of recommendations, including: take advantage of the two lists of the written and oral media discourse skills, introducing students enrolled in the program of the Media Department to the argumentative theory and its strategies, and the Toulmin model in arguments, and training them to employ them in written and oral media production
