This article describes the combined process of reconditioning engine cylinder heads (by the example of a cylinder head of a ZMZ-511/523 engine) by supersonic electric arc metallization (SEAM), followed by plasma-electrolytic oxidation (PEO) and hardening and filling the coating pores with a polymer. In repair works, this technology will significantly increase the wear- and corrosion resistance of reconditioned cylinder heads in comparison with new parts.
