Magnitude Surveys was commissioned to assess the subsurface archaeological potential of a c. 9.5ha area of land at Pakefield Holiday Village, Lowestoft, Suffolk. A fluxgate gradiometer survey was successfully completed across the survey area. Agricultural activity has been identified in the form of a former pond and drainage features. Concentrations of strong dipolar anomalies have been detected in the northeast of the survey area, attributed to the backfilling of construction works for the adjacent car park. Several linear to curvilinear anomalies have been detected which are of undetermined classification. Anomalies associated with magnetic disturbance correspond to field boundaries, former goal posts and either World War II defences or defences which were possibly later repurposed as buried services.
