Abstract: Amid the global wave of transformation in academic communication systems toward open access, how Chinese-language academic journals can transcend the dual boundaries of language and geography to achieve genuine internationalization has become an urgent and critical issue. Quest Macau (ISSN 3081-1414 / 3081-1422), a Macau-based,globally oriented gold open access (Gold OA) Chinese-language academic quarterly, focuses on interdisciplinary research and cross-cutting fields in the humanities and social sciences, actively exploring new pathways for the internationalization of Chinese-language academic journals. This paper systematically analyzes the journal’s explorations and experiences in building an open, collaborative, and forward-looking international academic community from the perspectives of its core positioning, open access practices, global database indexing strategies, editorial board development, and future vision. The study indicates that the gold open access model combined with a clear interdisciplinary focus provides a feasible pathway for enhancing the international visibility and academic impact of Chinese-language journals. The practices of this journal offer valuable references for the international development of similar publications.
