Dear Colleagues,As the newly elected President of SAFOMS, it is with great pride that I share an update on our recent activities, our future projects and horizons and initiatives of SAFOMS.SAFOMS, founded as a federation of menopause societies from South Asia-including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal-has experienced significant growth since its inception in 2010.Our mission to increase awareness among healthcare providers, including gynecologists and allied specialists like endocrinologists, psychiatrists, physiotherapists, orthopedicians, sleep therapists, family physicians, paramedical staff, is flourishing and we are also expanding our outreach to the public and advocating for important policy changes with governments wherever it is feasible.In the past few years, not only has our membership grown, but SAFOMS has also gained international recognition within menopause and gynecological societies also.Following the pandemic, we initiated a series of popular webinars, which have become regular events.Our most recent webinar, titled "Digital Menopause: Self-tracking," held on January 29 th , 2026 in collaboration with BMS, saw participation from all five member countries and received positive feedback.The SAFOMS Education Committee has developed an educational module focusing on the latest advancements in menopause health, based on current guidelines.Sessions have been conducted with enthusiastic participation from members across all SAFOMS countries, each lasting two-and-a-half hours.We will continue these educational efforts in the upcoming months and also aim to introduce recreational programs, including yoga and tai chi, and other physical fitness measures.Most recently, the SAFOMS session during IMSCON (National Conference of Indian Menopause Society) held at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Bhopal from February 27th to March 1st, 2026, was an exponentially successful and well-received at all fronts of academic success, cultural events, health and fitness sessions in the morning and health awareness camps; and on March 1st, we featured recorded oration and physical keynote addresses from prominent speakers, including the President of SAFOMS, Dr Suraiya Rahman, who discussed the pathophysiology, etiology, and management of GSM.As President-Elect, SAFOMS, I presented a keynote address highlighting the urgent need for discussions and research on "Menopause in the Workplace."This session also featured a significant address by Dr Harsha Attapattu on violence against women.Together, we are making remarkable strides in advancing the dialog and research surrounding menopause in our region.
