ABSTRACT There has been significant interest in biomarker identification and a thrust towards Precision psychiatry for optimal effect and least adverse effect. A lot of efforts are ongoing in this direction in Pharmacogenomics, Artificial Intelligence, Nanotheranostics, and other areas. An extensive literature search was done on Google, Google Scholar, PubMed, and other academic websites with keywords like “biomarkers,” “psychiatry,” “artificial intelligence,” and so on. Literature received and sanitized was analyzed for the development in the direction of the topic. Significant effort is ongoing in this direction in the field of “omics,” “imaging,” “artificial intelligence,” “nanotechnology,” and “pharmacology;” but most of them are in an early stage, need replication of results, and revisit psychiatry in terms of the definition of illness, diagnostic assessment, and multifactorial causation. The pathway to precision medicine in psychiatry does look promising, but it still has a long way to go.
