The purpose of the study is to analyze the problems of agriculture in Khakassia caused by the war. Basing on information from the documents of the National Archive of the Republic of Khakassia, it considers the state of the region’s agricultural sector during the Great Patriotic War. The plans for the supply of livestock products were not fulfilled in the region all the war years long. Thus, as of December 1, 1941, it was necessary to purchase 7 530 head of cattle, in fact, 2 851 head of cattle were purchased, which amounted to 37.8 % of the target plan. Concerning the purchase of sheep and goats, it was planned to purchase 2 360 heads from individuals, in fact, 1 842 heads were purchased or 78.0% of the plan. According to the plan, 610 pigs had to be purchased, but only 267 or 43.8% of the planned target were purchased. As of October 25, 1943, the farms of the region delivered bread to the state by 16,168 tons less than in 1942 and fulfilled the grain distribution plan by only 22.7 %. The sowing and harvesting works were delayed. The most acute problems of Khakassia’s agricultural sector were a decrease in livestock numbers as a result of epidemics and poor care, reduction of area under crop, deterioration in crop rotations, and sharp reduction in labor mechanization. By the end of the war, the situation was improved in some way; but the effects of the war had an impact on the agricultural production for a long time.
