Map making has been the prerogative of Cartographers, as historically documented. This is evident from the very early maps produced in Europe and Asian countries. The maps were regarded as topological. Now-a-days, other professionals have joined in the production of maps. The role of cartograpgy in national development is examined. Data for this work is sourced from existing literatures and content analysis was applied. Databases, maps and map revision and other visualization products for environmental management still remain in the domain of cartography.
