Flood is a reoccurring problem in most coastal areas. It is caused by rising of global temperature which results in heavy down pour, thermal expansion of the ocean and glacial melt, which in turn results in rise in sea level, thereby causing water to inundate coastal lands. This work studied the causes and effects of flooding in Ifite-Ogwari. Survey design was used, questionnaire was administered to the respondents randomly. The result showed that there is a significant relationship between flood disaster and the socio-economic activities of inhabitants, there is no significant relationship between flood disaster and the health of inhabitants, there is a significant relationship between flood occurrence and environmental damage. It was recommended that government should construct embankments along the riverbanks and also embark on channelization of drainages.
