The archaeological monitoring and recording comprised the observation by a competent archaeologist of all intrusive groundworks associated with the proposed development. These works comprised the machine excavation of three interventions measuring 8m x 5m x 3.5m deep to allow the installation of a new valve on an existing water main In September 2025, Cotswold Archaeology carried out a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording during groundworks associated with the installation of a new valve on an existing water main at AW Upton Reservoir, Sutton Heath, Southorpe, Peterborough. No features or deposits of archaeological interest were observed and no artefactual material pre-dating the modern period was recovered.
