To evaluate the risk of falls in older adults treated with bupropion, a common antidepressant.
Analyzed safety profile of bupropion in older adults
Considered dose-related seizure risk and related symptoms
Monitored cases of delirium and psychotic symptoms
Found an increased risk of falls in bupropion-treated individuals
Identified delirium as a significant risk factor for falls
Observed favorable safety profile overall with noted caveats
Abstract
Bupropion generally has a favorable safety profile, notwithstanding its well‐known dose‐related seizure risk and a less commonly known risk of delirium and psychotic symptoms (Bender et al., 2026).
