Samyoga Viruddhahara (incompatible food combinations) is a fundamental concept in Ayurveda that explains the harmful effects of improper dietary combinations on digestion, metabolism and systemic health.1 In the modern era, the widespread consumption of junk food has introduced multiple incompatible dietary patterns that align with the principles of Viruddhahara.4,5 These combinations disturb Agni (digestive fire), produce Ama (toxic metabolites) and contribute to the pathogenesis of lifestyle disorders.2,6 This review explores the concept of Samyoga Viruddhahara in relation to junk food consumption and examines its impact on human health through both Ayurvedic and modern scientific perspectives.
