The Federal Supreme Court plays an important role in monitoring the constitutionality of laws and approving the results of parliamentary elections. This role is granted to it under the text of Article 93 of the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005 and the Federal Supreme Court Law No. 30 of 2005 and the Internal Regulations of the Federal Supreme Court No. 1 of 2022, where the court is entrusted with the jurisdiction to review the laws and decisions issued by the authorities, including those related to the electoral process, including the voting stage, as the voting stage in the parliamentary elections is considered the basis of the electoral process and through it the voter expresses his opinion and chooses who represents him in the legislative authority. It is required in this process, including the voting stage, that all procedures be in accordance with the constitution and the law, and that all its procedures be free from fraud, and that it enjoy procedures of transparency, neutrality and integrity and not be lacking its legal cover specified by the constitution and the law, and all of this is through the constitutional oversight exercised by the Federal Supreme Court
