The Internet of Things (IoT) is characterized by the interconnection of everyday devices which has introduced a paradigm shift in how we interact with our surroundings. While IoT enhances efficiency and convenience, it also provides sustainable approach to library practices. Consequently, this paper examines how IoT will enhance sustainable library practices through the three fundamental pillars of sustainability (economic, social and environmental sustainabilities). Specifically, the study will examine the application of IoT to economic sustainability in libraries. It will also examine the application of IoT to social sustainability in libraries. In addition, the study will examine the application of IoT to environmental sustainability in libraries. Moreover, the paper will explore the challenges of IoT application to sustainable library practices. Therefore, the paper is expected to reinforce the application of technological innovations (IoT) in strengthening library practices for effectiveness and efficiency.
