This paper defines the scope and conceptual boundaries of Relationship-Aware AI. Rather than treating execution as a default operation, the paper establishes relationally conditioned execution as the central organizing principle of the research field. The work clarifies: the core problem of Relationship-Aware AI, the role of the relationship layer, the distinction between execution and response generation, and the conceptual boundaries separating the field from dialogue systems, HCI, AI safety, and agent systems. At its foundation, the paper proposes the following principle: “AI behavior is determined by relational conditions, and execution is a consequence of relational conditions.” This publication serves as a foundational position paper for the Relationship-Aware AI Research initiative.
