The structure and physicomechanical properties of composites with a matrix of high-alloy steel PKh18N15M at 50 and 60 wt % and reinforcing additives TiC and TiC + TiB2 were investigated. The composites were produced by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) followed by unconstrained pressing. The amounts of titanium and boron added to the starting charge were chosen to yield 5 wt % TiB2 in the final composite. For composites reinforced with TiC, the maximum values were: microhardness 14.4 GPa, elastic modulus 379 GPa, and elastic recovery 32.8%; for composites reinforced with TiC + TiB2, the corresponding values were 17.7 GPa, 478 GPa, and 35.6%.
