Education is an important part of the economy in which development and progress is very imperative. Accounting education is an integral part of the educational sector that is designed to train students in the art of accounting management while also equip them with skills and knowledge required to function in employed jobs. The skills acquired are designed as a form of human capital development that is expected to produce a set of people who will contribute immensely to the economic fortune of the society. However, the economic downturn witnessed in the country during the COVID 19 pandemic is of great concern. The resultant effect of the pandemic is the ‘new normal’ in the state of conducting teaching and imparting knowledge to students through the use of technology different from the conventional way. With high unemployment rate, the employability of job seekers and their ability to attribute on a global scale is saddening. Therefore, the study seeks to look at the use of accounting education to address the problem of employability and global competitiveness of job seekers in the ‘new normal’ in Nigeria.
